Points to note when selecting a forklift

When choosing a forklift, the main criteria to consider are load capacity, lifting height, power type, tire composition and operator ergonomics.
There are several types of power types available:

Electric motor
Internal combustion engine: gasoline; diesel; LPG (liquefied petroleum gas);
CNG (compressed natural gas);
Hybrid motor (combustion/electric)

The peculiarities of the work site are a decisive factor in choosing the right equipment:

Indoor or outdoor operation
Height constraints
The reachability of the target object to be transported

Why use an electric forklift?

Electric forklifts are mainly used indoors:

Advantages:

Emissions: They are more environmentally friendly because they do not emit any fumes. That is why they are more suitable for indoor use, as there is no need to have a ventilation system.

Size: Since they do not require a fuel tank, they are more compact and therefore easier to handle and store.

Service life: They do not require much maintenance. The battery is easy to replace, so the service life of the forklift is longer. Maintenance costs are low. Noise level: Since there is no combustion, they are not as noisy as other types of forklifts.
Disadvantages:

Operation may be affected by the environment, such as humidity or cold.

Initial investment is higher than for internal combustion models.

Why use a diesel forklift?

Diesel forklifts have higher operating costs and should be preferred for outdoor use.

Advantages:

Carrying capacity: They have a higher carrying capacity than electric forklifts (120,000 pounds for diesel engines vs. 12,000 pounds for electric motors).

Autonomous power

Disadvantages:

Use of fossil fuels

Emissions: Not suitable for indoor work.

Higher purchase price than gasoline forklifts and fluctuating operating costs (depending on the cost of diesel).

Heavier and bulkier than electric forklifts.

Why use a gas forklift?

Gas forklifts use an internal combustion engine that runs on liquid propane gas (LPG) or compressed natural gas (CNG).

Advantages:

Quickly fill up the tank.

Long service life.

Can be used indoors and outdoors.

Low impact on the environment.

Disadvantages:

The fuel tank at the rear of the forklift is bulky and may block the view.

Maintenance costs are higher than other types of motors.
