It has different models and specifications, the small reach truck is an electric forklift suitable for indoor work, and the large reach truck is more suitable for outdoor work. Currently, reach trucks are mostly powered by lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries.
Typically, a reach truck takes several hours to complete a charge. However, no matter what the price of the forklift is, some reach forklifts will have shortened charging time, shortened power consumption time, and poor battery life. Why is this?
In one case, the customer did not install and use the battery of the reach truck in time after purchasing it, which caused the battery to self-discharge due to long-term storage, and the battery life decreased.
How to avoid this situation? Regardless of the price of the forklift, if the battery of the reach truck is not used for a long time, the battery should be charged every once in a while.
In addition, the corrosion and deformation of the battery positive plate of the reach truck will also lead to a decrease in battery life. The positive plate of the battery will greatly affect the service life of the battery.
The rate of corrosion and deformation of the positive plate depends on the composition of the grid alloy. The higher the storage temperature, the faster the corrosion rate, and the higher the degree of discharge, the more serious the corrosion.
Moreover, the softening and falling off of the active material on the positive plate of the battery of the reach truck will also lead to a decrease in the endurance of the battery. The main reason for this problem is that the battery of the reach truck is charged and discharged at high current.
Regardless of the price of the forklift, from a microscopic level, there are large pores and small pores in the active material, and the large pores are composed of many small pores. As the high-current discharge cycle proceeds, the surface of the active material shrinks to form a core coral-like structure. However, multiple discharge cycles increase the accumulation of small pores, resulting in the continuous increase of large pores, destroying the structure of the positive plate, and causing the active material to fall off.
In addition, the vulcanization of the negative plate of the battery of the reach truck will lead to the decrease of battery life. When the battery is in normal operation, the PbSO4 particles on the negative plate are small, and they are easily reduced to fluffy lead after discharge.
But sometimes lead sulfate that is difficult to reduce is generated inside the battery, which is called sulfide. There are many reasons for the vulcanization of the negative plate, such as not charging in time after discharge; long-term storage of the battery, serious self-discharge; high electrolyte concentration; long-term insufficient charging; long-term discharge at high temperature, etc. Regardless of forklift price, this is a big reason to reduce the range of a reach truck's battery.
