Safe use and maintenance of forklift batteries

Safe use and maintenance of forklift batteries

I. Daily inspection is essential

1. Battery liquid level: When the liquid level is lower than the rated liquid level, the battery life will be shortened, but too little electrolyte will also cause the battery to heat up and damage, so you must always pay attention to whether the electrolyte is sufficient.

2. Battery terminals, wires, and covers: You must often check the corrosion caused by oxidation at the joints of the battery terminals and the connections of the wires. At the same time, check whether the cover is deformed and whether there is any heating.

3. Appearance: Dirty battery surface will cause leakage. Beijing Forklift Company believes that the battery surface should be kept clean and dry at any time.

Daily inspection is essential

II. Maintenance

1. Add water: Add distilled water according to the specified liquid level. Do not add too much distilled water to extend the interval between adding water. Adding too much water will cause the electrolyte to overflow and cause leakage.

2. Charging: The battery will produce gas during charging. The charging place should be kept well ventilated and there should be no open flames around. At the same time, the oxygen and acidic gases produced during charging will affect the surrounding area. Unplugging the charging plug during charging will generate an arc. The plug can only be unplugged after the charger is turned off. After charging, a lot of hydrogen is retained around the battery. No open flame is allowed. The cover on the battery should be opened for charging.

Maintenance

3. Repair of the terminal, wire, and cover: must be performed by professional technicians designated by the manufacturer.

4. Cleaning: If it is not too dirty, you can wipe it clean with a damp cloth. If it is very dirty, remove the battery from the vehicle, wash it with water, and let it dry naturally.
